Funny little things!

Funny little things!

Frogs are funny little things. I’ve uncovered a few interesting things about frogs I want to share with you.

Why do frogs jump?

I have always wondered this. Is it just so they can hop to the next lily pad? Well, it turns out that our friend evolution was at play when frogs came around. Quite a few things find frogs to be tasty. Frogs don’t have claws or teeth to protect themselves, so they developed jumping to avoid being dinner. They can jump to almost 20 times their own body length! D:

Despite what you may think, these lazy little creatures are also carnivores. I had no idea!

What’s That Sound?

One thing I find to be particularly strange is that frogs make a distinct croaking sound. Kind of like how the stretched surface of a drum can make a very loud noise, frogs puff themselves up and stretch their membranes to amplify the croaks they make. This sound is made by male frogs to attract the ladies. And let me tell you, lady frogs think croaking is super sexy!
