For this first contest we allowed people to submit photos that weren’t of themselves. We thought it would be fair to those people who don’t have a Kigurumi.
In the future we’ll only accept photos if they’re of the person submitting the photo. We’ll come up with fun ways to do this :)

Hannah, we’re not 100% set on how often, but we’re thinking every 7 to 10 days.
Also, we really like letting people share their kigurumi pics, but we realize that not everyone has a kigurumi. We are thinking about rotating back and forth between contests that require a kigurumi and contests that don’t.
We were also thinking about having a contest for modifying the Kigurumi Shop logo. If you haven’t noticed it changes with the seasons. :D
The only thing that might not be so great with having people design a kigurumi is that it would take us a while to actually have it in our shop. And we might not ever be able to add it if it’s a copyrighted character that we don’t have permission for.
I guess it would still be fun to see what people come up with! ^^
I think it would be a cool idea to have people draw out their kigurumi designs. But set rules like it can’t be a character you can’t get copy right for. Like be their own character or of an animal. And make it a special costom kigurumi and if you get enough request for that design THEN you can make more to sell. Hope you like this idea c:

:D This IS a cool idea, but realistically it could take a while (like, a year) from the time we have an idea to the time the kigurumi is available for sale in our shop.
Our kigurumi come from Sazac (the BEST kigurumi manufacturer IMO!), but we’re in a special position that allows us to request new kigurumi based on ideas from our fans. Even still, it takes a while to get a kigurumi from an idea to our store.
These are great! Too bad I’m too tall for them…
What I would like to see are more “barnyard” Kigurumi like a pig, sheep, horse, goat, etc. I’m already thinking of the cow for some “country and western” folk I know. They would get a kick out of them!! Perfect for those lazy days of winter!!
Sorry to hear that you’re too tall for them. :< Just curious, how tall is too tall? I have friends who are 6' 4"+ who wear them and they look alright… maybe a little short on the wrists and ankles, but that's it.

I have a question! How strict are you guys on the “kigu in it’s natural environment” rule, and if we know that there has been a submission that is elsewhere on the internet (aka the art is not owned by the entrant), do we report this?

Cool. I like the stuff you guys have; I’m a newbie to kigurumi but I’ve seen them at Anime Expo and online. The flying squirrel and dinozilla are pretty sick. I kinda wish the tails were longer and fluffier for most of these, but I can deal. xD If I can match the fabric I can just mod the kigurumi later. :3 Hoping to get my submission started, finished, and entered by Friday night!
The two ones in the lead posted their link on their deviant art. Notice how they have 1000+ votes more than anyone else in the competition? I don’t think it’s fair that they just get a bunch of people to vote for their drawing and leave without even giving the other entries a peek.
i don’t see any rules against advertising for your own picture to the best of your ability. and if they didn’t consider it to be a kigurumi then they wouldn’t have posted the picture up in the album in the first place.

I don’t see anything wrong with posting your entree on DA if you have that many watchers to help you win i applaud you. i don’t consider it “whoring” at all nor should you. as a fellow artist i find that a bit offensive. and if its not technically a drawing of a kigurumi then i don’t think the judges would count it.

it shouldn’t really matter I dont think :/ i mean the people who got over 1000+ likes were all from spamming on DA. In the end it was set up as a popularity contest and everything’s kinda fair game after that.
Well remember, there was only one winning entry (“most likes”) that was subjective and based on popularity. To be honest, it was clear that that winning entry would be based on the amount of advertising done. All the other winners were based on the staff vote. So really, there’s nothing to complain about.

We’re only able to give away kigurumi that are in our shop. But we have alot of cool different ones to choose from. So don’t worry! If you win, I’m sure you’ll be able to find another kigurumi you like. :)
Id like to make a complain, on one of your photos in the contest is a form of derivative art id appreciate if it was taken down due to because he confessed about copying it
There are no rules against this in our contest. The contest winners are chosen independently of the fact that a person may have won previously. If your entry follows all of the rules of our contest I see no reason to disqualify an individual because they’ve won in the past. Having said that, we try to be as fair as we can with these contests, so we will take into account the fact that someone may have won before during the decision process of the staff pick. The first winner wins based on the number of likes on our facebook page and is chosen by the fans. No reason to worry though. We really do try to make everyone happy here. :)

It’s kind of disappointing that you can only enter a photo if you or someone you know already HAS a kigurumi… it’s rather a huge advantage right there.
It’d be nice to have a competition that was limited to people without a kigu, but i guess that couldn’t really be enforced.

The votes on the pictures are acting kind of funny. Some of my friends told me they couldn’t vote and when they clicked to vote it just made the picture bigger. Anyone else having a problem?
You can only vote once on an image. If they already voted, then the picture will just get bigger if they click on it. I haven’t heard of anyone having problems voting so far, but let me check into it and get back to you… :)

Amen! I had to borrow a friend’s from like 200mi. away just to enter it. Sadly I barely got the photo yesterday so my chances of winning my own are low. BUT Hopefully I get at least enough votes to get a coupon and buy the one I want ^__^ (or get staff pic, wink wink)

Well, it would be simple. Two people would team up. One sketcher, and one color artist. And there would be two different ways to do it. One would be the both hand rendered (i.e both done by hand the good old fashioned way) Or one hand rendered the other computer rendered. I know people who do it all on computers would have a MAJOR lead, so it would have to be one hand rendered. Each would have to have a picture of each artist WHILE working on the item. That way you can verify that two people did work on it and that one was in fact hand done. I personally one draw in pencil and would no issue posting a picture of the finished uncolored item on here. The theme should be something with two characters minimum in it. It would certainly bring a whole new aspect to the contest as now you would have to find someone that can compliment your art style and be able to either use a computer or do the other thing by hand. I would think it would be a REAL challenge that way. And it would be more of a team effort. (Sorry for the novel post.)

you really shouldnt complain. theyre trying their hardest to make them fair. its impossible to make a COMPLETELY fair contest like this.

I noticed while I was voting that the count doesn’t seem right. One picture had 3 votes, but when I voted it suddenly had 6. So I refreshed to see where they all stood now, and it had 3 votes again. How do I tell who’s winning??
We wanted to make it clear that the entry has to be more than *just* a photo manipulation. We don’t want people to just take a picture of themselves and write “Happy Holidays” or that sort of thing. The entry you’re referring to had quite a bit of actual drawing. The photo made up a small portion.
That would be fantastic! Since I draw by hand more I get easily discouraged when I see computer-made art because it looks way better than hand drawn stuff.
I think you guys should really follow your own rules more and be alot more thorough at looking at entries that are submitted in your contests. I was taking a look at you last contest which the theme for was “PILLOW FIGHT!” keep this them in mind.
The entry which came in 6TH place has absolutely NOTHING!!! to do with a pillow fight. The only thing the picture has is a girl sitting on her bed in a kigurumi holding a few stuffed animals and is surrounded by alot more stuffed animals. You can’t even see a pillow anywhere in the photo, this photo in my opinion didn’t even come close to meeting the theme and should not have even been posted up. The photos above AND below the 6th place photo BOTH actually fit the theme of the contest yet didn’t place but MIGHT have stood a chance at placing if the 6th place photo wouldn’t have ever been allowed by you guys.
IF YOU ARE GOING TO SET A THEME OR SET RULES THEN STAND BY THEM!!!! If a photo doesn’t fit the theme then send an apology letter to the sender of the photo stating why it can not be accepted and tell them they can still enter if they send in another photo that does fit the theme.
Also looking back at another previous contest I believe entering a contest from you guys and trying to win STAFF PICK is a sometimes a big waste of time for anyone who does not have good photo taking/editing skills or good looks or someone who might be a staff friend. The halloween contest is a great example of that.
The staff pick in that contest was in NO WAY strong in the halloween theme which as you stated and I quote “To win the Kigurumi Shop Staff Pick you’ll want to have a strong Halloween theme!” in that photo all you have is some nice lighting, halloween contacts, fake blood (which blood for a lion is actually kinda normal) and a PRETTY GIRL!
I saw PLENTY of other entries in that contest that deserved to win WAY MORE!! Honestly the winner for staff pick if I saw that picture without knowing what a kigurumi is I wouldn’t know what the hell she is wearing, considering your a company that sells kigurumi’s and these are KIGURUMI CONTESTS you should want people to really be able to see the kigurumi in the photo.
after taking so much heat from everyone, i just want to remind you guys that you are doing an AWESOME job. these contests are very generous (even if some selfish people dont think so)
We do turn down quite a few entries every contest for not fitting the given theme, but I see what you mean about that particular entry in our pillow fight contest. We didn’t receive many entries for that contest, which is why we accepted her picture. We appreciated the fact that she took the time to enter the contest and we felt that the picture wasn’t *that* far from the theme.
An entrant’s looks are not a factor when determining the Kigurumi Shop Staff Pick. We choose to have a Kigurumi Shop Staff Pick so that the contests aren’t completely popularity-based, which is often the case with contests based on votes.

pretty damn sure that the picure submitted by drea has been created using the Mac Apple Appl;ication for animation, iv’e seen something quite a few very similar creations made by this app has it carries the similarities,,, as stated in the rules it is a competition for artist drawings. not computer creations and cgi’d animations… just my thoughts though,,

This is just a potential idea for the next competition, but rather than having people vote as the contest goes along and entries are submitted, open up the contest for entries for a couple weeks (gives people enough time to enter) and then open voting all at once for another couple weeks or something.
I think this would make voting a little more accurate and fair

i think that your contest seems a bit unfair the way things are uploaded. i think that since there’s only alowed one vote per internet connection and there are new entries uploaded everyday what if you vote for someone the first day and then the next day there’s an even better enty that you wished you could have voted for. I think that you guys for another cpntest should have a submission deadline and not upload any pictured until after the dealine and then have a voting deadline that way each drawing has a more of a fair chance to get votes…I dont know if that even made any sense….
You are allowed to vote for as many entries as you’d like, but you are only allowed to vote once for each particular entry. So, if there are 10 drawings that you like, you can vote for all of them. (:

This is a good idea and we’re planning on splitting up future contests into categories like this. We will probably have separate contests, though. One month will be hand-drawn, next month computer generated, etc.
Facebook has very strict rules about images that we can upload. Unfortunately, they have found some similarities between your entry and another image, which they consider to be a copyright issue. Although, we trust that your image is an original and cannot find any image it is similar to, Facebook will not allow us to upload it. :<

If you vote on your picture the Vote button will disappear. The system only allows one vote per image based on your internet connection. So, if you’re sharing an internet connection with someone who already voted on your picture, you may not be able to vote. The best solution is to use an internet connection at a different location. Sorry for the inconvenience!

I’m sorry to hear about the trouble with the voting. :< We are aware of the issues and are looking to resolve them. Sometimes it takes a while for the votes to be registered, and other times people are prevented from voting because the system only allows one vote per internet connection — if your friends are sharing an internet connection with someone who already voted on a picture, they won't be able to vote again.
In the future we’re planning on splitting up art contests into hand-drawn and digital categories to prevent this. There are so many amazing entries it’s going to be tough for the judges to pick the Kigurumi Shop Staff Pick!
“Just draw yourself doing your favorite holiday activity in a kigurumi and you’re set!” – that’s what contest is about, but there are plenty of entries with just a person in kigurumi staring from the screen… with no subject or story behind it .____. that would be not fair if one of those win

I was wondering if there would be an extension for the contest?(even if it’s just a day) Because I’ve been having mad problems with my comp/internet since Christmas and today it was fixed (those people took a long time and still lags a bit!) and I couldn’t finish the drawing until today! If not then it’s ok, I understand but I figured I’d ask anyways.

Unicorn kigurumis are cute, but I’ve seen a lot of people find and wear them! If you guys do a magical creature like it, it’d be super cute to add little wings in the back and make it a unicorn/Pegasus combo, and have it in different colors, like white, black, pink and powder blue. I love the fennec fox idea!

We’re not really looking at this page as a contest with an end date and we don’t have any rules for the number of kigurumi that we will end up carrying in our shop, but I can say that there are 3 kigurumi on this page that are being designed right now!
As we add kigurumi from this list, we’ll remove them and start designing the next popular kigurumi. To be honest, we’re kind of making it up as we go along! We didn’t know what to expect when we set up this page. It’s pretty cool to see all the kigurumi ideas we’ve received! :D

I already posted this on facebook but im stating it here aw well, i feel that this company should supply a kigurumi fashioned after boo from monsters inc’s costume. Sazac already supplies a Sulley costume and since the movie is being re-released in 3d and next year a second movie will be coming out i feel that it would be a good investment idea since people will have a renewed interest and would now and in the future supply great interest. Making penguin flipper like sleeves in grey material and a hood with eyes and grey yarn like hair and making the body out of scale patterned material, also making white teeth around the hood. It seems like it would probably be the best idea ever. PLEASE consider this.

You guys should’ve enforced a rule to have a hand drawn sign that says something like “I <3 Kigurumi shop!" to prevent fakes from entering. Oh well!
For this first contest we allowed people to submit photos that weren’t of themselves. We thought it would be fair to those people who don’t have a Kigurumi.
In the future we’ll only accept photos if they’re of the person submitting the photo. We’ll come up with fun ways to do this :)

How often will you be having contests? These are quite entertaining.
Hannah, we’re not 100% set on how often, but we’re thinking every 7 to 10 days.
Also, we really like letting people share their kigurumi pics, but we realize that not everyone has a kigurumi. We are thinking about rotating back and forth between contests that require a kigurumi and contests that don’t.
Any ideas or suggestions are always welcome ^^

We were also thinking about having a contest for modifying the Kigurumi Shop logo. If you haven’t noticed it changes with the seasons. :D
The only thing that might not be so great with having people design a kigurumi is that it would take us a while to actually have it in our shop. And we might not ever be able to add it if it’s a copyrighted character that we don’t have permission for.
I guess it would still be fun to see what people come up with! ^^

I think it would be a cool idea to have people draw out their kigurumi designs. But set rules like it can’t be a character you can’t get copy right for. Like be their own character or of an animal. :D This IS a cool idea, but realistically it could take a while (like, a year) from the time we have an idea to the time the kigurumi is available for sale in our shop.
Our kigurumi come from Sazac (the BEST kigurumi manufacturer IMO!), but we’re in a special position that allows us to request new kigurumi based on ideas from our fans. Even still, it takes a while to get a kigurumi from an idea to our store.

Rosemarie, we don’t do custom kigurumi designs. There are a few companies out there that do, and if you search “custom kigurumi” you can find them.
Cool. I like the stuff you guys have; I’m a newbie to kigurumi but I’ve seen them at Anime Expo and online. The flying squirrel and dinozilla are pretty sick. I kinda wish the tails were longer and fluffier for most of these, but I can deal. xD If I can match the fabric I can just mod the kigurumi later. :3 Hoping to get my submission started, finished, and entered by Friday night!
The two ones in the lead posted their link on their deviant art. Notice how they have 1000+ votes more than anyone else in the competition? I don’t think it’s fair that they just get a bunch of people to vote for their drawing and leave without even giving the other entries a peek.
i don’t see any rules against advertising for your own picture to the best of your ability. and if they didn’t consider it to be a kigurumi then they wouldn’t have posted the picture up in the album in the first place.

Well remember, there was only one winning entry (“most likes”) that was subjective and based on popularity. To be honest, it was clear that that winning entry would be based on the amount of advertising done. All the other winners were based on the staff vote. So really, there’s nothing to complain about.

There are no rules against this in our contest. The contest winners are chosen independently of the fact that a person may have won previously. If your entry follows all of the rules of our contest I see no reason to disqualify an individual because they’ve won in the past. Having said that, we try to be as fair as we can with these contests, so we will take into account the fact that someone may have won before during the decision process of the staff pick. The first winner wins based on the number of likes on our facebook page and is chosen by the fans. No reason to worry though. We really do try to make everyone happy here. :)

You can only vote once on an image. If they already voted, then the picture will just get bigger if they click on it. I haven’t heard of anyone having problems voting so far, but let me check into it and get back to you… :)

Well, it would be simple. Two people would team up. One sketcher, and one color artist. And there would be two different ways to do it. One would be the both hand rendered (i.e both done by hand the good old fashioned way) Or one hand rendered the other computer rendered. I know people who do it all on computers would have a MAJOR lead, so it would have to be one hand rendered. Each would have to have a picture of each artist WHILE working on the item. That way you can verify that two people did work on it and that one was in fact hand done. I personally one draw in pencil and would no issue posting a picture of the finished uncolored item on here. The theme should be something with two characters minimum in it. It would certainly bring a whole new aspect to the contest as now you would have to find someone that can compliment your art style and be able to either use a computer or do the other thing by hand. I would think it would be a REAL challenge that way. And it would be more of a team effort. (Sorry for the novel post.)

I noticed while I was voting that the count doesn’t seem right. One picture had 3 votes, but when I voted it suddenly had 6. So I refreshed to see where they all stood now, and it had 3 votes again. How do I tell who’s winning??
We wanted to make it clear that the entry has to be more than *just* a photo manipulation. We don’t want people to just take a picture of themselves and write “Happy Holidays” or that sort of thing. The entry you’re referring to had quite a bit of actual drawing. The photo made up a small portion.

That would be fantastic! Since I draw by hand more I get easily discouraged when I see computer-made art because it looks way better than hand drawn stuff.
I think you guys should really follow your own rules more and be alot more thorough at looking at entries that are submitted in your contests. I was taking a look at you last contest which the theme for was “PILLOW FIGHT!” keep this them in mind.
The entry which came in 6TH place has absolutely NOTHING!!! to do with a pillow fight. The only thing the picture has is a girl sitting on her bed in a kigurumi holding a few stuffed animals and is surrounded by alot more stuffed animals. You can’t even see a pillow anywhere in the photo, this photo in my opinion didn’t even come close to meeting the theme and should not have even been posted up. The photos above AND below the 6th place photo BOTH actually fit the theme of the contest yet didn’t place but MIGHT have stood a chance at placing if the 6th place photo wouldn’t have ever been allowed by you guys.
IF YOU ARE GOING TO SET A THEME OR SET RULES THEN STAND BY THEM!!!! If a photo doesn’t fit the theme then send an apology letter to the sender of the photo stating why it can not be accepted and tell them they can still enter if they send in another photo that does fit the theme.
Also looking back at another previous contest I believe entering a contest from you guys and trying to win STAFF PICK is a sometimes a big waste of time for anyone who does not have good photo taking/editing skills or good looks or someone who might be a staff friend. The halloween contest is a great example of that.
The staff pick in that contest was in NO WAY strong in the halloween theme which as you stated and I quote “To win the Kigurumi Shop Staff Pick you’ll want to have a strong Halloween theme!” in that photo all you have is some nice lighting, halloween contacts, fake blood (which blood for a lion is actually kinda normal) and a PRETTY GIRL!
I saw PLENTY of other entries in that contest that deserved to win WAY MORE!! Honestly the winner for staff pick if I saw that picture without knowing what a kigurumi is I wouldn’t know what the hell she is wearing, considering your a company that sells kigurumi’s and these are KIGURUMI CONTESTS you should want people to really be able to see the kigurumi in the photo.

We do turn down quite a few entries every contest for not fitting the given theme, but I see what you mean about that particular entry in our pillow fight contest. We didn’t receive many entries for that contest, which is why we accepted her picture. We appreciated the fact that she took the time to enter the contest and we felt that the picture wasn’t *that* far from the theme.
An entrant’s looks are not a factor when determining the Kigurumi Shop Staff Pick. We choose to have a Kigurumi Shop Staff Pick so that the contests aren’t completely popularity-based, which is often the case with contests based on votes.

This is just a potential idea for the next competition, but rather than having people vote as the contest goes along and entries are submitted, open up the contest for entries for a couple weeks (gives people enough time to enter) and then open voting all at once for another couple weeks or something.
I think this would make voting a little more accurate and fair

i think that your contest seems a bit unfair the way things are uploaded. i think that since there’s only alowed one vote per internet connection and there are new entries uploaded everyday what if you vote for someone the first day and then the next day there’s an even better enty that you wished you could have voted for. I think that you guys for another cpntest should have a submission deadline and not upload any pictured until after the dealine and then have a voting deadline that way each drawing has a more of a fair chance to get votes…I dont know if that even made any sense….
You are allowed to vote for as many entries as you’d like, but you are only allowed to vote once for each particular entry. So, if there are 10 drawings that you like, you can vote for all of them. (:

Facebook has very strict rules about images that we can upload. Unfortunately, they have found some similarities between your entry and another image, which they consider to be a copyright issue. Although, we trust that your image is an original and cannot find any image it is similar to, Facebook will not allow us to upload it. :<

Sometimes it takes a while for the votes to be registered, and other times people are prevented from voting because the system only allows one vote per internet connection — if your friends are sharing an internet connection with someone who already voted on a picture, they won't be able to vote again.

Hi! I was wondering if there would be an extension for the contest?(even if it’s just a day) Because I’ve been having mad problems with my comp/internet since Christmas and today it was fixed (those people took a long time and still lags a bit!) and I couldn’t finish the drawing until today! Unicorn kigurumis are cute, but I’ve seen a lot of people find and wear them! If you guys do a magical creature like it, it’d be super cute to add little wings in the back and make it a unicorn/Pegasus combo, and have it in different colors, like white, black, pink and powder blue. Utterly disgusted with the service! I ordered a costume over 3 weeks ago and I still have not received it. I called and they told me there was a problem shipping it so they were going to send it to my parents house. I still have not received it. Hi, jmp! This page is just a way for us and Sazac to see what kigurumi people are most interested in. We’re not really looking at this page as a contest with an end date and we don’t have any rules for the number of kigurumi that we will end up carrying in our shop, but I can say that there are 3 kigurumi on this page that are being designed right now!
As we add kigurumi from this list, we’ll remove them and start designing the next popular kigurumi. To be honest, we’re kind of making it up as we go along! We didn’t know what to expect when we set up this page. It’s pretty cool to see all the kigurumi ideas we’ve received! :D

I already posted this on facebook but im stating it here aw well, i feel that this company should supply a kigurumi fashioned after boo from monsters inc’s costume. Sazac already supplies a Sulley costume and since the movie is being re-released in 3d and next year a second movie will be coming out i feel that it would be a good investment idea since people will have a renewed interest and would now and in the future supply great interest. Making penguin flipper like sleeves in grey material and a hood with eyes and grey yarn like hair and making the body out of scale patterned material, also making white teeth around the hood. It seems like it would probably be the best idea ever. PLEASE consider this.
